Draw the readers with the promise
Of a person somewhat like them.
The girl who the man who the boy
Who did the mysterious thing,
Who did the adventurous thing.
None of you thinks of the word who.
Just a small word, a boring word.
Who? A particle of English
In this case, a particular
Evolving language, only one
Among the thousands lived or gone.
You don’t know who. You don’t know how
Old that word really is. You don’t
Know where it got started,
Why any words were started, when
Any language had to be, what
The first language was. Who spoke it.
