Cheap to Plot, Costly to Keep

Symmetrical design is cheap,
A compressible description—
Symmetric phenotypes take low
Descriptional complexity.

It just happens to be useful
As well for recognizing health—
Easily planned is easily
Spoiled. Symmetry’s hard to keep,

And so lives find it beautiful
In other lives, and what can those
Say who are not symmetrical?
Nothing much but it’s nothing much.
