Does it ingest
Break down, expel
Whatever’s left?
Does it infect,
Break, commandeer
Machinery, burst
Out self-copies?
Does it construct
What it gathers,
Leaving unused
Parts piled aside?
Does it hunger
Efficiently,
Waste not, want not?
Then it’s alive.
