More Than the Number of Atoms in the Universe

This claim gets tossed out there occasionally
For illustrating impossibility,
Usually to do with calculations.

Perhaps we should be a little skeptical
Of the solidity of the estimates
For number of atoms in the universe?

There’s not one-hundred percent certainty yet
About the size or age of the universe,
Of what its darks consist, whether they exist.

It was only yesterday, the existence
Of atoms themselves was somewhat contentious,
And they’ve turned out so many splittable bits,

Hardly what atoms meant to Democritus.
Is it wrong to insist more atoms exist
Than the number of atoms that can exist?
