Gravity, the glistening one,
The figure coiling in the waves,
Tiamat depersonified,
Creator of chaotic breaks
And pendulums for duller days,
By this, the world holds unified.
You know why you’re afraid of snakes,
Why desert peoples loathe the depths?
Because you’re waves, and waves dissolve you.
Eerie how life starts out floating
And only later drags itself
To where gravity can smash things.
To float feels fooled by forever.
A monster’s more of shadows there.
It's not the fall, it's the pressure.
