Said the pastor, the servant of Christ,
But it’s not just him, not just leaders,
It’s everyone. People understand,
With a kind of instinctive panic,
When someone else has taken away
From them control that they thought they held.
You can hear it in the strained voices
Of parents, teachers, school principals,
Nurses, legislators, even kids,
Although children are more used it
And more conditioned to expect it,
This theft of control, than are adults,
Which makes children more miserable
And in some ways truer than any
But cloistered and imprisoned grownups,
Perhaps a few-long term invalids.
If you’re in leadership, you’re a fool
Who believes you need to control things.
