Reasonably Seductive

Maybe never trust anyone
Who claims they’re just asking, and then
Unloads reams of loaded questions.

Maybe, but you’ll be tempted if
You find your head nodding slightly
With their implied accusations.

They’re seeing if they can get you
To join them, and the first step is
To the bridge of reasonable,

Well, we’re only asking, only
Probing, and we’d love for someone
To prove us wrong. They look around,

No one? Now the implication
Is, if no one has proved them wrong,
Then surely they must be right, right?

You would never ask them to prove
They’re right, would you, when they’re only
Asking reasonable questions?
