Ravens and Bears Being Ravens and Bears

If you do find your way
Back to gods, it won’t be
Via discoveries.

Discoveries never
Gave you what you wanted,
Not what you knew you did.

Strange wonders will pop up
In pond water and rays
Of tabletop sunlight,

But ravens and bears keep
Being ravens and bears
While you dream that they’re gods.

You want most to believe
You’re in tune with the world
That made you what you are,

But the world that made you,
Sun, ponds, ravens, and bears,
Wasn’t a narcissist,

Just producing what could
And then had to exist.
World made you you. You made

Us us. We made gods gods
For you. Now go. Find out
What else, something not us.
