A Scary Precarious Staircase

They all are. Access
Is funny, that way.
You build it to help

Yourselves get across
Obstacles you can’t
Manage with mere limbs.

You can’t float or fly,
And you’re terrible
Jumpers and climbers.

So you cut your paths,
And weave your bridge ropes,
And hack a few steps

Into the mountains,
But you never quite
Manage to make it

So your prosthetics
Aren’t hazards themselves.
You must like some threat

To your dizzying
Connections between
Things, so you can see

Your difficulties
And intimidate
Those unfamiliar.
