We can’t not be
Human, not be
Human language,
Human culture.
A person can
Pull away some,
Avoid talking,
Avoid language,
Practice silence,
Sit with the world,
Its roars and chirps,
Stinks and flashes
That have no words.
But a poem can’t.
Zen monks have been
Known to ditch poems.
