Death is disorienting
Enough without wondering
How your spectral body works.

Fans of ghosts almost always
Picture them in period
Costume, as they looked alive.

If clothes and hairstyles, why not
Their prosthetic devices?
Limps for the lame, let hunchbacks

Keep their hunches, let the ghosts
Deaf sign, the schizophrenic
Hear voices that don’t exist

For other ghosts, those voices
Of the living bickering,
Confused about believing.
