Earth’s been planning this all along,
Gunning for this moment, in fact.

How about that? Unlikely, yep.
But funny you don’t think of it

When you’re so quick to see design
In everything else and call Earth

Your mother. You imagine gods
Could have been scheming all of this,

And some of you imagine Earth
As a single organism,

Why not with designs of its own?
Earth always intended humans,

Or to get to something like you.
All of you are instrumental—

Nuclear tricks and synthetics
Included—to Earth’s grand design,

Whatever that could be. You see
Yourselves as a desperate blight

And you are, but you’re entraining
More and more of Earth’s resources,

And maybe Earth is focusing
On something Earth can do through you.
