Hierarchies of Fear

Prey species don’t just startle
At all roars of predators.
Being frightened has its costs.

You need a good hierarchy
For your fears. When should you run,
Go on alert, or ignore

Ominous nearby rumblings?
Honey, in the human world
Even predators are prey,

Even human predators.
If you always run away,
You’re as lost as if you stay.

If you always stay, you’re gone.
