For a while, and never really fired up.

Was reported near Alaska, but most
Of the news focused on the Olympics.
Numerous wild turkeys strolled past the car,

Foraging in the tall summer grasses,
But they were unusually quiet, too.
There’s nothing ominous but the desire

To uncover omens in everything.
The day goes on its twisty way. The birds
Stay quiet. The tsunami warning ends.

It’s possible all meanings are lonely,
Trapped in humans, looking for some other
Kinship meanings to comfort them. Meaning?

Something else happens. Attention wanders.
