Strawberry Milkshake Practice at Dusk

Your ghost is taller than my ghost,
Said the daughter to the father.
Louise Bogan wrote having

Life was that old reason to wait
For what comes, leave what is over.
That’s where the body gets itself,

That point, but it comes earlier.
Even the young wait for what comes,
And are, frankly, a lot better

At leaving what is over. Not
That they don’t have their own ghosts,
Just that their ghosts are still growing.
