If Every World Is Not Equivalent

It was only an analogy,
To call the equations of physics
Laws. A comical analogy

In a way, since calling those patterns
Laws made them feel authoritative,
When they were actually much firmer

Than the unstable rules of human
Laws. It was an insult to physics
And to its reliability

To identify its equations
With anything as mutable as
Laws. But maybe the analogy

Will prove apt yet—there could be corners
Where even laws of physics alter,
Exceptions, which would make them real laws.
