Favoritism

For at least a few thousand years,
People have noted that careful
Observation shows fate doesn’t
Particularly favor the good.

Why are you shocked that’s still the case?
Given you can’t even agree
On which of you is wickedest
Or what you mean by wickedness,

It’s amazing you can notice
Fate shows no kindness to goodness,
No matter how you define it.
This is a vote for randomness,

And lord, how you loathe randomness—
So much, you’re more comfortable
Saying fate favors the wicked,
That is, until you wreak justice.
