It’s almost delightful how

Its changes still surprise you.

With fair regularity

That this past is as should be,
Given the past that has been.
Then something else goes sideways.

It’s not the improbable—
The rare is rare but happens.
It’s what wasn’t known to be

Possible that simply was,
And you gawp again, slack-jawed.
