Impeded diseases, impeded repairs,
The body is a body, not a landscape.
The comparison is understandable,
Scars, dead zones, invasive species, rancid growths,
Yes, all of it. But when does a landscape die?
You may weep over it, make it a wasteland,
But something’s always determined to thrive there,
No less hungry than whatever was before
Or whatever will be next. While a body?
A body is only a body until
It doesn’t work as a body anymore.
Then, a short while, yes, it might be a landscape.
