Of a limping god,
Limping immortal

Bent and bandy-legged
Is extremely odd,
Come to think of it.

Presumably limbs
Would be as ageless
And immune to death

As any god flesh.
Yet Hephaestus limped
From congenital

Impairment, for which
His mother tossed him
From a cliff. Divine

Gestation is not
That well understood,
But don’t you suspect

That divinity
Is a bolt-on trait,
Really, for all gods?
