If you believe in causation,
You might want to consider all
The invisible things never
Happened thanks to the things that did—
It’s not merely that the happy
Romance could only have blossomed
Because of an unfortunate
Accident at the time, nor that
The injury itself occurred
Because of some foolish mistake,
But that a cloud of unforeseen
And never possible to glimpse
Events now have gone to limbo
Because of everything that’s past—
The other romance, the happy
Or unhappy celibacy,
The other injury, the years
Of good health—there’s your multiverse.
No wonder those with faith in cause
Are prone to dream things otherwise.
Cause lowers angel-laden skies.
