On the Porch

Ok, so this is outside, he said,
The good and healthy outdoors.
So what’s so great about it?

Nice in the spring sun, for sure,
But the fresh air won’t heal you.
People die in fresh air, too.

War machines and con artists
Won’t be thwarted by fresh air.
The end of the world won’t end

Because you took a nice walk.
At least in the day you can’t
See the satellites blinking,

That’s something, but it’s really
More of a buzz than a cure,
Sensation of well-being

Like you get from opioids,
The sunny day signaling,
Oh, isn’t this pleasanter?
