Could be functional, could be
Ornamental. Burial,

Trail-marking, remembrance,
Tourism, shenanigans.
You can find one others made.

You can contribute. You don’t
Have to contribute. You don’t
Have to exert or impose.

You may even take some pride
In not piling more meanings,
In deconstructing meanings.

You likely admire a few,
Are in awe of ancient ones,
And find others annoying.

You may wish that there were more.
But the ground doesn’t conjure
Cairns without humans like you.
