Why do you fear forgetting
Like it’s a rare occasion,
Unexpected accident,
When it’s as common as death?
Well, you fear death even more,
On average, so common
Seems, if anything, a prod
And stimulant to fearing,
If you pause to think on it.
You sit in conversation
On a sunny afternoon
With a friend who shares your fears,
Taking turns reassuring
Each other the missing words
Are not such a certain sign
That all of you’s leaving you.
Could be medication’s fault.
Time to take your medicine.
