To leave a personal testament
That the journey had been worth making,
Is one reason to carve graffiti,
Argues a travel historian.
Could apply to many sojourners—
Gods leave behind their revelations
To say their journeys were worth making.
Great craters eroding say the same
On behalf of plunging meteors.
The artists of deep caves’ underworlds
Or sunlit, plastered ceilings alike
Testify their journeys worth making.
Ripples journeying through languages
Testify poetry worth making.
