All that seems to interest life
Anymore is light, the patterns
Its shadows make across the floor,
The long way it shifts left to right—
The speed of pattern slowing
Until one wall is a solid brick
Of white painful to be by.
You don’t want to write, aren’t keen
On talking so much these hours.
You’ll stop here and wait an awhile.
