Near the end of the era
Of Viking expansiveness,

Maybe sick of it himself,
Asked the page what made people
Go to Greenland and why fare

Thither through such great perils?
Risky question. Short answer.
Man’s threefold nature, seeking

Fame and curiosity,
And lust for gain.
Fame. Curiosity. Greed.

Nobody wants to hear that.
Bravery. That’s what we want--
Divine plans for everyone.
