One of the fun reasons, it seems,
People keep doing people harm

Is that they can, and they can since
People trust and care for people

More than for systems or machines.
The vicious bastard ruining

A family, corporation,
Or nation-state hegemony,

Continues to be beloved
Even by those who claim to loathe

Their families, big industries,
And nation-state hegemonies.

Systems are so impersonal.
They can’t relish conquering you.

They’re insects and robots, machines
You can’t embrace as they gut you.

You only love the ones you know
Can hurt you how you would hurt you.
